This film is about a man who has several different affairs throughout the course of the movie. The first affair is with a mute theater usher who has the lower half of her face covered. This is because she is always reciting a banned book under her breath because she is afraid she might forget the words. She is not allowed to write it down. He then moves onto a bondage-loving cop who is chasing a killer that is after writers. Once she finds out he is a writer, she sticks to him. This romance also comes to a tragic end. The opening credits play at this point, and it is revealed that the movie has to this point covered different books the director has written. He finally gets to the real movie, which is about a romance writer trying to find true love.

This movie is truly a weird experience. First, you think you are watching the actual movie only to find out you have been watching two short stories the author has written. The actual movie starts after this, and is about a romance writer searching for true love.
