The capacity of the server configuration is about 1,150 hours at 50 Mbps. For playout, the broadcaster deploys main and backup servers, each with a capacity of about 570 hours of MPEG-2 files at 12 Mbps. The Spectrum server system's open architecture provides support for various third-party application for control, transmission and collaborative production. The Spectrum system's open-fi le and open-encoding formats enable NewAuto NLE-generated content to be moved to NAS storage and then to the Spectrum playout server without transcoding. The Spectrum servers at Jinan TV are also integrated with Wuyou Automation Software from China's Founder Digital Video. Wuyou Automation is found in over two-thirds of China's provincial TV stations. The Spectrum's modular design allows incremental expansion without broadcasting downtime, a feature important to Jinan which expects to add two new channels soon.
